Lean Learning by Pat Flynn
Nonfiction: Personal Development
Rather than trying to learn everything before starting something new (launching a business, writing a book, etc.), you should learn just enough to get started. This "lean learning" will help you quickly transition to action rather than endlessly thinking.

Finding Me by Viola Davis
Nonfiction: Memoir, Film & Art
A beautiful, heartwrenching memoir by a powerful actress & producer. My wife and I listened to the audiobook, which I definitely recommend. Davis reads it herself.

🧑💼 Quick Leadership Takeaway
🗣️ “Becoming a leader is synonymous with becoming yourself. It is precisely that simple and it is also that difficult.” -Warren Bennis
Over the years, I’ve realized that the more I show up as my authentic self (warts and all), the better I’m able to lead others:
- My best 1-on-1s are when I speak freely, as I would to a friend.
- My best meetings are when I'm candid and authentic.
- My best speeches are when I share more of myself with the audience.
By finding your identity and expressing that identity authentically, others will gravitate toward you.
Why?
Because we all want to be around someone who’s confident in their own skin.
How much are you hiding your true self when you interact with your team? What might it look like to authentically show a bit more of yourself this week?
🤓 How I Can Help Your Team

I've helped many companies improve their team's internal & external communication, and also helped many managers move from having postive intentions to having positive impact.
Here are a handful of the many topics I've helped companies with in the past, and I can also design custom trainings for your team:

🤝 Someone You Should Know...
A couple of months ago, I attended my first creator conference (i.e., a conference for writers and online creators).
The conference was Craft + Commerce, and I decided to watch a few keynotes and interviews from prior years before attending.
One video stood out as my favorite, and for the first time I can ever remember, it stood out due to the strength of the interviewer, not the interviewee.
It was an interview with Mark Manson, author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. Mark was great, but the interviewer was fantastic. The video left me wondering... "Who the hell is this interviewer?"
So, I dove down the rabbit hole and learned the interviewer was a guy named Barrett Brooks. Turns out, Barrett has had quite a career. He's worked for Seth Godin, served as COO of Kit, and now helps founders as an Executive Coach.
He also runs a podcast called Good Work, which is thoughtfully produced and painstakingly researched. (He goes out of his way to not ask interviewees the same questions everyone else has asked them.)
Anyway, Barrett is the real deal, and I'm glad I stumbled on his work. If you're interested, check out some of my favorites from him below and sign up for his weekly newsletter:
